Judicial Education

A hallmark of the Alliance of California Judges is its dedication to judicial education.  Since 2013 and every year until the pandemic, the Alliance has hosted judges from all parts of California at judicial education conferences routinely rated as outstanding, informative and enjoyable.  Orange County Superior Court Judge John Adams, our Director of Judicial Education, has coordinated more than a dozen of these well received programs.

Our judicial education conferences, which have been held in the Bay Area, Sacramento and Southern California, have covered a wide range of topical issues, including felony sentencing, search and seizure, bail, and dealing with the CJP.  Legal scholars invited from the Antonin School of Law have addressed constitutional and civil justice issues, as well as a broad range of economic subjects for judges.  Keynote speakers have included a 9th Circuit Court of Appeal Judge, a senior member of Congress, the Enron prosecutor and a highly regarded political commentator.  The Alliance has also conducted numerous seminars on judicial salaries and our unflagging effort to ensure that judges receive their full financial compensation as intended by the legislature.

In addition, the Alliance has conducted three international judicial education programs, our first in 2016 at the Hebrew University Law School in Jerusalem, our second in 2017 at the University of Sydney Law School in Australia, and our third in 2019 at the Hague.  Lectures were delivered by renowned legal scholars and jurists, including a Supreme Court Justice in Israel, a High Court Justice in Australia, and the Secretary General of the Hague Convention in the Netherlands.

With the end of the pandemic, we anticipate a resumption of interesting and exciting judicial education programming in 2025.
